Carpe Diem for the entrepreneur

Carpe Diem … SEIZE THE DAY.

I remember watching the movie “Dead Poets Society” where Robin Williams lit a fire in the hearts and minds of his class.

On the first day of classes, they are surprised by the unorthodox teaching methods of their new English teacher, (Robin Williams), who encourages his students to “make your lives extraordinary”, a sentiment he summarizes with the Latin expression carpe diem (“seize the day”).

In subsequent lessons, he stands on his desk to teach the boys how they must look at life in a different way, tells them to rip out the introduction of their poetry books which explains a mathematical formula used for rating poetry, and has them make up their own style of walking in a courtyard to encourage them to be individuals.

Movies like that stir up the soul which cries out for you to be more, do more, have more in life than what you are currently experiencing.

Books like “Think and Grow Rich” and “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” and “The Master Key System” stir up thoughts that change your beliefs about what is possible.

Entrepreneurs “get” this stuff.  They are the crazy ones, as Steve Jobs said …

steve-jobs-quotes

Entrepreneurs are born when they reach the point in their life when they say, “enough is enough.”

They just KNOW if anything is going to change, it’s up to them to start the gears moving.

No more following the rules of society (work hard for 40 years, retire on 40% of your income.)

No more lamenting about the bills that pile up every month …

No more clocking in from 8-5 for a job …

NO MORE.

The future depends on what you do today.
― Mahatma Gandhi

Life is too short to wait …CARPE DIEM.

The time is now to make the change …

There’s only one thing I disagree with in this video.  Watch it first and then I’ll tell you.

Everything he says in the video is absolute truth except this …

you are never too old to start.

We work with twenty-somethings and grandparents …
there is no degree of separation among entrepreneurs regarding age.   It’s never too late.

What are you waiting for?

Make the rest of your life extraordinary.

Carpe Diem!
