What is the path of least resistance to manifesting your dream?

Path of Least Resistance to our Vanabode

What is the path of least resistance to manifest what you desire?

What do you do when that which you want seems to be taking such a long time to get here?

The natural tendency for most people is to get frustrated and even a little bit angry. Sometimes, jealousy and envy erupt as you see that others seem to “have it all” and you begin to doubt that you’ll ever truly manifest what you desire.

That’s the rub. That’s the resistance. That’s the issue that needs to be addressed.

We have a new dream now that we manifested the freedom to live and travel on the Naked Hippies Roadtrip. Our new dream is to replace our Big Foot pickup camper with a Vanabode.

We’ve done the research, we know exactly what we want, the model, the features, the set up. There are pictures of the Vanabode on our vision board. We have already done the first major downsize necessary. We notice the white Chevy vans that we pass on the road with exclamations of “VANABODE!”

What is the path of least resistance to manifest our Vanabode?

And yet, here we are still waiting.

You, too?

Are you in that place of “it isn’t here yet” – “why is this taking so long” – “what else do I have to do?”

What is the path of least resistance to manifest any desire?

It isn’t in the “doing.”  It is in the BEING.

It isn’t in trying to figure out how, or when, or where it will happen.

The path of least resistance is taking your focus off the manifestation, the end result, the destination; and instead, focusing on your state of being, your feelings.

As long as you keep your focus on what “isn’t here yet,” you are sending out negative vibrations of lack, of doubt. Desires are manifested when your energy is vibrating at higher levels of joy and happiness and appreciation.

But, it’s so hard, isn’t it?  We’ve been imprinted with the instant gratification ideas of our society. It transfers easily to the manifestation process.  It’s hard to be patient, and especially difficult to be happy while you wait.

This message from Esther Hicks explains exactly how we are pinching ourselves off from the BEING  on the path of least resistance.

Esther Hicks reminds me to remember how we manifested our Big Foot camper. How the journey towards its manifestation was one that we could never have imagined.

I’m reminded to take my eyes off the “what isn’t here yet” and find delight and joy romping around on this journey to manifesting our Vanabode.

Will you join me in the fun? Will you practice (and it takes a lot of practice) to be happy now, BEFORE your dream becomes your reality? To be aware and appreciative of paths that are lighting up as you continue to wait?

The lighted path appears when you take the path of least resistance.

When you have the certainty, the belief that all you desire is coming to you, when you stop being fixated on what your physical eyes reveal “what isn’t here,” you are on the path to least resistance. Your desire is making its way to you in ways you could never imagine or expect.

Wait … wait … wait.

But, not by throwing a temper tantrum like a two-year-old or raising your fist to the Universe as you cry out “Why is this taking so damn long?”

Wait with appreciation. Wait with delight. Wait with joyous patience and expectancy. Wait with the art of allowing people, places, events and rendevous!

[Tweet “The waiting IS the journey.”]
There is much to see and discover and learn and enjoy along the way.

The path of least resistance is being present now. Not looking ahead in fear, or looking back with guilt or regret.

As you travel on this amazing journey, there is always more to learn about who you are and the amazing power of deliberate creation you have within you.

Come, you’re invited, to join our study of “Ask and It Is Given” by Esther and Jerry Hicks. We read and discuss the book daily, Monday – Friday at 10 am Eastern.  Dial in for the live call: 712-775-7085 pin 150703#

Or catch the replays here.

Here’s to your journey (and ours)!

The Naked Hippies’ Pickup Gets Naked … one step closer to our Vanabode!

Ready to see the Naked Hippies’ pickup get naked?

It’s about time, don’t you think?  Ha ha!

We have lived and traveled in this Big Foot camper since 2010 … and have never taken the camper off our Dodge Ram pickup.

pickup-gets-naked-naked-hippies-roadtrip
We haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on our list!

Now, as we prepare for the switch from a pick up camper to the Vanabode stealth camping lifestyle, our truck had to get naked.

We had to remove the camper so we can sell the truck separately from the camper and still have a place to live while we modify and set up the Vanabode.

I have to admit, I was pretty nervous about doing this.  After all, it’s our HOME and the camper has been resting on the truck for over five years.  All kinds of what ifs started spewing from my mouth.

  • What if the support legs won’t hold the camper up?
  • What if we can’t get the camper back on the truck if we need to?
  • What if the camper tips forward because we sleep and get a bit rowdy on the front end where there is no support?

If this had been a reality show, you would have watched me stand close by with furrowed brow and an anxious look.

You would have seen Bruce read the instructions for removing the camper.  (By the way, we were extremely grateful to find these instructions in the truck’s glove compartment!  Can you say lifesaver?)

And, you would have seen Ron, our dear friend, pull out the necessary tools and gadgets from his magic storehouse and just tackle the job without worrying about the what ifs still pouring from my mouth!

Uh oh!  The hydraulics aren’t working.

“I knew it!” Trisha mutters under her breath.

A quick call to  another dear friend in Eureka Springs, who is the official Naked Hippies mechanic provided the solution … get some oil and a plastic squeeze bottle to add the oil to the hydraulic canisters.

That’s all it took!

Bruce and Ron cranked the hydraulics to lift the camper off the truck.

And now … Our Naked Hippies’ pickup gets naked!

I swear it kinda shimmied and shook when we “undressed” it!

We piled into the cab of the truck and took off for Home Depot to get concrete blocks to sit the camper on.

At first, Bruce was a little disoriented driving the truck without the camper on its back and without all that weight!   He had to get used to have a 360 view of all traffic again!

It was totally weird to not have Big Foot with us.

Now we’re wondering what kind of mileage the truck will get. It’s been pretty awesome in spite of the weight.  Bruce was getting nearly 20 mpg WITH Big Foot!

Lowering the camper onto the concrete blocks was a breeze. A successful job!

(AND, there IS support up front under the bed, too!)  WHEW!

Who wants to buy a Naked VINTAGE 1989 Dodge Ram pickup 350 with a Cummins Turbo Diesel?   This truck will run forever, or so we’ve been told by many mechanics.

Stay tuned … more adventures ahead!

Boondocking Tips – Whether You are Vanabode Camping or Not

Boondocking:  Camping without hooking up to amenities such as water and electricity.

Oh, there’s all kinds of terms for this kind of camping – dry camping, independent camping, dispersed camping.

Without getting into semantics, I’m just going to share these boondocking tips without concern about being concerned about the proper term.

Basically, boondocking can be thought of as primitive tent camping in your RV.

You won’t have electrical or water hookups. You sure as heck won’t find a sewer hookup.

So, a little preparation is necessary such as making sure you have enough water on board and as in our case, an inverter to charge our laptops so we can keep on working online to build our business.

There are two main reasons people choose boondocking … either to get out in nature or to save money on camping … or both.   For us, it’s both.

We’ve been on the road since 2013 and have camped in state parks, national forests, and RV parks from the Gulf Coast to the Pacific Coast, throughout the Midwest, the Southwest and the Northwest.

We’ve also had great times boondocking at Walmart, truck stops, casinos and rest stops.

The following boondocking tips will help you find free sites and give you some pointers on boondocking on public lots.

Be sure to read all the way to the end to learn about boondocking at airports!

WALMART, TRUCK STOP, REST AREAS and CASINO BOONDOCKING TIPS:

  1. There’s a Walmart in nearly every town, which is fantastic for boondocking. But, not all Walmarts allow overnight camping. Check with management to get permission to stay overnight on their lot. Many cities have ordinances against overnight parking.  If you are not sure overnight parking is allowed, go inside and ask.  You’ll sleep much better knowing.
  2. DO NOT pull out your awnings, camp chairs and dog cages when you park overnight at Walmart or ANY truck stop, rest stop or Casino.   C’mon people … it’s a privilege to be able to park for free.  Don’t abuse it.
  3. Park far away from the main entrance.  It’s the common sense, courteous thing to do.
  4. Best truck stop for boondocking – hands down – is Flying J.  The great bonus is that most Flying J Truck Stops have a Denny’s!
  5. You’ll see notices of “no camping” at many rest stops.  That means no setting up camp as mentioned above – no awnings, no camp chairs pulled out, no grilling.
  6. Casinos offer free camping – some even have specified areas for your RV.

Two apps that I rely on frequently are:boondocking-tips-naked-hippies-roadtrip

The US Rest Stop App that lists all rest stops in the US by state and highway.

Flying J

The Pilot/Flying J App that tells me the nearest location of our fav truck stop!

Park your RV at My House!

Here’s another site that is a fantastic idea … RVers who say “come park your RV at my house!”  You’ll have to pay a membership fee in order to participate in this exchange. Click here: boondockerswelcome.com/

Now, as promised …

AIRPORT CAMPING (our secret tip!)

We attend many events for our business and they are always held in big cities where it’s tough to find a parking space for our camper. Plus, we like sleeping in our own bed vs. paying $100/night to sleep inside a motel room.  So, we just park at the airport.

This has worked tremendously well for us in a couple of times in Los Angeles and recently in Chicago.  We park our camper, ride shuttles and trains to get from the economy lot to the airport to the hotel, attend the event each day and then ride the shuttles and trains to get back to our camper to sleep.

All transportation is free.  The parking is cheap, usually $10-12/night.  You can’t beat the price and you can’t beat the comfort of your own bed.

We’ve decided to do this from now on for any city we decide to visit, whether it’s business that takes us there or pleasure.  Instead of fighting traffic and stressing over parking, we’ll camp at the airport, ride the free transportation to the city and enjoy sightseeing.  At the end of the day, we’ll head back to the airport for sleep and get ready to do it all over again the next day.

We absolutely love boondocking!  Most of what we learned came from the Vanabode Book … How to Live and Travel on $20 a Day.

A week ago, we sat at a crossroads in Chicago. Our plan was to head to Maine, then travel down the East Coast to enjoy the spectacular fall colors. Maine to Key West … that was the plan. We had two voices vying to get their way. One voice said, "YES ... GO GO GO! You've always wanted to see the fall colors.  Just DO IT!" The other voice said, "Ummmmmm, maybe you should wait." via GIPHY Oh, how we WANTED to make this a magical experience.  I so WANTED to claim my spot on Cadillac Mountain in Maine to be the first to see the sunrise in the U.S.   We so wanted to visit states that neither of us had been to before.  I so WANTED to visit Walden Pond, Niagara Falls, and all the quaint little coastal towns. My mouth was watering for lobster rolls.  We planned to make it to Key West for Fantasy Fest at the end of October. But … something nudged us in the other direction. Call it intuition, call it divine guidance … call it whatever you want; but we turned the truck to the south instead of northeast.   Now we know why.  The East Coast is being deluged with rain right now because of Hurricane Joachim. Flooding, high winds, massive rain, beach erosion … not good for roadtrips. We would have been smack dab in the middle of this mess if we had not turned around. Isn’t it a lovely thing when you get to see the reason WHY you were nudged in a difference direction? It doesn’t always happen this way so quickly or clearly.  (But it’s awesome when it does!) The Naked Hippies East Coast trip has been postponed until further notice.  Actually, until next fall! We’re grateful that we turned around. Grateful that we didn’t let our stubborn egos drive us to make that trip no matter what.  (I mean, we SAID we were going … are you going to do what you say, Trisha?)   Monkey chatter, all monkey chatter to create self-doubt. Plus, we’re excited to see what lies ahead for us in the Southwest this winter. Arizona, here we come! Have you ever felt that nudge and changed your direction?

Quit Your Job and Travel

The Map is Not the Territory for the Naked Hippies Roadtrip

What is it You Plan to Do With Your One Wild and Precious Life?

manifesting-your-desires

Two Obstacles to Manifesting Your Desires

What are the two obstacles to manifesting your desires?

I know how frustrating it is to do your darnedest to manifest all that you desire and not “see” the results … been there, done that many, many times.

The fun part of manifesting your desires is the visualization of all that you desire to be, do and have in life.  You become like a kid again, at first, your imagination conjures up EVERYTHING you’ve ever wanted, ever dreamed of – kind of like writing a long letter to Santa … a really, really long letter.

That’s the fun of it; well, it’s fun IF

1. You believe there are endless possibilities awaiting you

2. You have an unlimited account with the Universe

3. You can “feel” as it it’s already done for you

More on that later. Let’s get to the two obstacles that stand in your way.  Here they are in all their shining glory, thing one and thing two:

LETTING GO OF HOW

LETTING GO OF WHEN

Let’s break it down in simple terms so you can begin to see how we muck up the manifestation process.

We’re all sorta control freaks about our lives.  We are used to taking action to solve problems and get what we want.

For example, from early childhood it began …

  • You learned that you needed to study hard to get good grades.
  • Heck, you learned that you needed to stand and sit still to keep the teacher happy.
  • You then learned that you needed to go to college in order to get a good job.  (we’ll discuss this fallacy in another blog post)
  • Then, you got your degree and landed a good job.  (WHEW!)
  • Then, you learned that you had to work hard to get a raise or a promotion.
  • You’ve learned that in order to have a trim body, you need to work out.
  • You’ve also learned that you have to eat right in order to lose weight.

So, your programming from birth has been this: you do the work to receive the blessings, the praises, the success that you desire.

Is it any wonder then, that as soon as you begin visualizing something that you truly desire, you immediately start to try to figure out how to make it become our reality?

You fall back on what our programming has taught you –

“If it’s meant to be, it’s up to ME! ME! ME!”

Letting go of the HOW is not an easy thing to do.

manifesting-your-desiresYou want to be the captain and steer in the direction that you think is going to be the best route to manifesting your desires while the real Captain, the Universe, has a whole ‘nuther plan.

Letting go of the HOW is key to manifesting your desires.

Also, letting go of the WHEN is just as vital.

We measure everything in time.

HOW MUCH TIME WILL IT TAKE?
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT?

Again, we’ve been programmed and have become the Give-It-To-Me-Now Generation.  We expect instant gratification, push button results, overnight success, and lottery ticket winnings with everything in life.

Here’s the bad news about this programming.  It causes you to contemplate and palpitate on the time factor when manifesting your desires.

When you question how long this is going to take to become your reality, you are calling up, firing up the familiar neural pathways to remind you of all the times you have felt lack, all the times you have felt there’s not enough of anything – time, money, love, food, happiness, etc.

When you question how long it’s taking, you are doubting.  You are moving away from your desire rather than towards it.

And it’s back to the beginning.

Kinda like getting the images (2)“Go to Jail” card in Monopoly.  Doubt sends you back to the beginning, to get clear, to get connected and to forget about time.

The Law of Attraction has been misunderstood by many people.

Yes, your thoughts create your reality.

But manifesting your desires is just not an act of “thinking” about what you want and SWOOSH it’s delivered to you as if you had rubbed a magic lamp.

That’s because there’s a whole lotta thinking going on in your mind, and you have a whole lotta programming to unwire.

If you’ve been following our posts, you know that we are waiting for our Vanabode to show up.

visualizing-our-vanabode

I AM like a little kid at Christmas – excited and expectant and EAGER for the Vanabode to arrive.   I’ve got to be consciously aware of letting go, because we all battle the same programming that I mentioned above, and it’s so easy to get caught up in trying to connect all the dots.

Bruce and I have imagined and visualized continually over the past couple of months as we go through our daily routines … imagining how it would be to do the things we do every day as if we are in our Vanabode instead of in our pickup camper …

like making coffee,

charging our laptops and phones,

setting up a portable toilet,

using dry shampoo,

eating simply, and

conserving internet and battery power.

We’re living as if we were already IN the Vanabode and learning more everyday how to ease into this lifestyle.

We are ever SO READY … and are WAITING (without asking “how long” or trying to manipulate or finagle things to work out quickly.)

From my personal experience, and from what I’ve studied as a student and teacher of personal development, here is my guide to manifesting your desires:

1. Know clearly what you want to be, do and have

2. There are NO limits, no cap on your account – you can dream as big as you dare to dream.

3. You have to believe it BEFORE you see it … FEEL as if it has already become your reality.

4. LET GO of the how and when.

5. Celebrate everything with joy and gratitude.

6. Wait with awareness and unwavering expectancy.

It is your job to BE.
It is the job of the Universe to DO.

You BE the person you desire to be … NOW.
You BE the person doing the things you desire to do … NOW.
You BE the person having all the things you desire to have … NOW.

You BE, the Universe will DO it.

If this hadn’t happened many times in our life, I wouldn’t be writing this blog post.

Years ago, we began to visualize owning a camper so that we could live and travel fulltime.  When people heard of our dream, they would ask, “when are you going to get it?”

Or they would want to know what our price range was so they could help us find the perfect camper.

We always answered, “We don’t have a price, we don’t have a savings account or will qualify for a loan.  We will have the camper when it shows up.”

And it did!  Miraculously!  Out of the blue!

Our Vanabode will be here at the perfect time.  It will be miraculous, too!

In the meantime, we continue on in the flow of letting go, surrendering, allowing and receiving … all from the ALL IN ALL.

I don’t know what’s on your list as you think about manifesting your desires … but I do know this.  All that you dream of is waiting for you.

Here’s to your miraculous manifestations!

Living off the grid – the Vanabode way

Living off the grid – the Vanabode way is not new to us, but …

we’ve had to figure and refigure this transition.

One thing we’ve learned on the Naked Hippies never-ending roadtip is this … if you stay in one place too long, you can get too comfortable and too used to a set routine …

so that when you move on, the transition to a new setting, a new routine is sometimes arduous.

We spent the summer in Eureka Springs with our dear friends and business partners.  We were spoiled in every way, for sure, and are so extremely grateful for their gracious hospitality.

But, we pulled out last weekend to come back to our Missouri River home to reconnect with our “roots” and the beauty and serenity of this place … AND to begin living off the grid. No electricity, no hookups, in preparation for our Vanabode lifestyle.

So, as we’ve had fun seeing old friends and getting situated on the banks of the river, we’ve had to figure out how to power our laptops and cell phones – to keep our business growing – since we don’t have unlimited internet and continuous electricity flowing to our devices.

We’re using a 12v battery and an inverter, just as we did when we lived here in a tent one summer. Read our story here!

So, it’s back to the basics again!

It has made us mindful of our habits and caused us to plan more strategically for the work we do every day.

We even bought a portable CD player to use for the guided meditation series we are using so that we don’t use up all the laptop power while meditating.  You remember those portable CD players?

As always, there is a solution for everything that comes up, for everything that we want to do.  So, we’re making this transition pretty easily and having a ton of FUN figuring out our new “routine.”

pontoon-on-the-missouri-river-naked-hippies-roadtrip
We never pass up an invitation for a boat ride on the river!

A routine which includes time not only off the grid, but off the laptop and cell phone, to watch the river, dance under the full moon, listen to the coyotes and owls and cicadas, ride on the pontoon, and say “amen” to another wonderful day as we watch the sunset over the river.

sunset-on-the-missouri-river-naked-hippies-roadtrip
This is what I collect now!

Interesting and exciting to me are the dragonflies that hover around me as I sit outside with my laptop or my journal.  The dragonfly animal totem represents transition, adaptability and reconnecting with Mother Nature.  BINGO!  Exactly what we are experiencing!

dragonfly-naked-hippies-roadtrip
Beautiful messenger!

We’re parked right on the riverbank, under massive shade trees and have the most incredible view of this beautiful river from right to left as we fall asleep and wake up every day.

This is where we call “home”  because it’s where our dream went through its labor and birth.

And now, there’s a new “pregnancy!”  (hold on now  – read the previous sentence – it’s not ME!)

A new dream is going through the labor to be birthed in our lives … the dream of our Vanabode.

You can read all my journal entries about manifesting our Vanabode here.

So far, so great is how it feels to be living off the grid!

All in all, we still say “it doesn’t get any better than this … until it does!”

P.S.  The #1 question we are asked when people find out we live and travel full time on the never-ending roadtrip is this … “How do you afford to do this?”  If you’re asking that question in all seriousness because you have this urging within you to travel, to be free, to live life on your own terms … and you know that life is too short to wait … send me a message on FB or text me.  Let’s talk!
