How to Find Your Purpose in Life – Why am I Here?

Most people want to know how to find your purpose in life … why am I here?

The question churns through your mind constantly.

What am I supposed to do with my life?

It’s a great question to ask.

There is a sure-fire way to tell if you are truly following your purpose in life.

Before you finish reading this article, you’ll know what it is.

At one point or sometimes several times during life… there comes a time when you are faced at the fork in the road.

You have two choices …

You can choose the well-worn path that the multitude follow and continue on in life.

It’s the path of least resistance – the way to please others, do what they expect or suggest, the robotic, day after day routine, the this-is-all-there-is-to-life kind of existence.

It’s so well worn that you can walk it blindly; in fact, many do.

But, that’s not living up to your true self.

Your true self seeks expression, seeks freedom, seeks so much more than the status quo.  Unless you allow your true self to be expressed and to create the life that ignites the fire within your soul, you are denying a life of fulfillment – both for yourself and all the others who will be touched by your passion.

So, there is another choice.  It’s the other path … the road less traveled.

less-traveled-path-naked-hippies-roadtrip
Take the path less traveled …

So, how do you find your purpose in life?

It all comes down to this:  what can I do with my time and knowledge and skills that would contribute to my life and the life of others?

These questions will help you drill down to know exactly why am I here?

1. What is it I love to do that makes me jump out of bed every morning?

If the work that you are doing now is not a drudgery, you’re on the right track. But, if you find yourself slamming the alarm clock, dragging yourself out of bed every single day … it’s a sign that you are not living a life that is fulfilling.  (I know – you’re saying DUH right now, but too many people assume they have to play the hand that was dealt them – and don’t realize how it doesn’t have to be this way.)

2. What am I really, really good at doing?

Take a quick assessment because you do have skills that will contribute to your purpose in life. What are those skills?  It could be you are technically saavy; or a great writer; or a visual artist; or one who people turn to for counseling and advice.  What are your amazing skills?

3. What am I interested in learning more about?

You will never stop learning , or at least, you SHOULD never stop learning.  What do you study? What do you crave to learn more about?  What could you spend hours studying- so absorbed that you forget to eat?  What drives your curiosity and intellect?

4. What is it I do that makes time disappear?

You know how it is when you are having a really great time and when you look up at the clock, hours have passed without you realizing it?  No, not the hours spent walking hand-in-hand along the beach with your beautiful spouse … the hours you spend working at something without realizing the sun came up and set and it seemed like you just got started.

5. How do I want to be remembered?

A great way to answer this question is to take time to write your eulogy.  Your eulogy as it would be written today … and then your eulogy as you would like it to be written.  If there’s no difference between the two – you are living your life’s purpose.  However, the majority of people are never really done with being, doing and having more in life.  Write both eulogies and see what comes up in the second one.  That will be a clue and a catalyst for finding your purpose in life.

HOMEWORK TIME!

Take some time to answer these questions. Pick a time to get away from everything – this is serious work to do.  Find a quiet place where you can be totally focused on seeking your purpose in life.

In the stillness, the quiet, search and reflect on your answers.

After you have done this, write your statement of purpose that encompasses all that you believe defines your vision and purpose.  It doesn’t have to be long; in fact, brevity is better because you will soon have this memorized so that you can repeat it to yourself often.

Need further help for clarification of finding your purpose in life?
This video will help you with finding your purpose in life in five minutes:

One final piece to this amazing discovery of your purpose in life is to lay its foundation in your subconscious mind.  Many find the following Self Confidence Formula from the book “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill to be the perfect affirmation of their purpose in life:

First. I know that I have the ability to achieve the object of my Definite Purpose in life, therefore, I DEMAND of myself persistent, continuous action toward its attainment, and I here and now promise to render such action.

Second. I realize the dominating thoughts of my mind will eventually reproduce themselves in outward, physical action, and gradually transform themselves into physical reality, therefore, I will concentrate my thoughts for thirty minutes daily, upon the task of thinking of the person I intend to become, thereby creating in my mind a clear mental picture.

Third. I know through the principle of auto-suggestion, any desire that I persistently hold in my mind will eventually seek expression through some practical means of attaining the object back of it, therefore, I will devote ten minutes daily to demanding of myself the development of SELF-CONFIDENCE.

Fourth. I have clearly written down a description of my DEFINITE CHIEF AIM in life, and I will never stop trying, until I have developed sufficient self-confidence for its attainment.

Fifth. I fully realize that no wealth or position can long endure, unless built upon truth and justice, therefore, I will engage in no transaction which does not benefit all whom it affects. I will succeed by attracting to myself the forces I wish to use, and the cooperation of other people. I will induce others to serve me, because of my willingness to serve others. I will eliminate hatred, envy, jealousy, selfishness, and cynicism, by developing love for all humanity, because I know that a negative attitude toward others can never bring me success. I will cause others to believe in me, because I will believe in them, and in myself.

I will sign my name to this formula, commit it to memory, and repeat it aloud once a day, with full FAITH that it will gradually influence my THOUGHTS and ACTIONS so that I will become a self-reliant, and successful person.

Taking the road less traveled and discovering your purpose in life is the path to freedom.

  • Freedom from struggle.
  • Freedom from being controlled by other’s perceptions of you.
  • Freedom from regrets.

How will you know when you’re there?  You’ll know you have found your purpose in life when at the end of your day’s work, you feel energized instead of drained.

May you find the courage to step on that less-traveled path and allow the amazing spirit of YOU energize, create and live a fulfilling life.

What would you do with your life if you had no time or money restrictions?

dowloading_rebooting_Naked_Hippies_Roadtrip

Rebooting and Updating Your Life

It’s no different than what you do on your laptop – you are rebooting, updating and downloading new programs into your life constantly.

I spent the first part of my morning tackling some computer issues … updating and rebooting processes. I had been neglecting this for way too long.

On every start, pop up windows reminded me of updates and I would just closed them out so I could get on with my work.

“I don’t have time to fix this … I’ve got to get on with things. I’ll do it someday.”

Someday became today.   I decided today was the day for upgrading, reinstalling and rebooting.

One was an update for java script which had been popping up for months. I’d just always click REMIND ME LATER and move on.

Another was a program that was installed for backing up my laptop, but I wasn’t using anymore. It kept reminding me that it was working in the background and unless I went to the task bar to “quit” the program, those reminders continuously popped up throughout the day.

The third issue was with Microsoft Windows.  On every start of Word, it had to configure the program, and I would wait and wait and wait for it to do this.

So this morning, I addressed the issues, uninstalled a program, updated a program and found the code to stop the reconfiguring of Word … and all is running smoothly now on start up.

It made me think of the programs we have installed in our subconscious minds.

How there are updates, there are beliefs to uninstall, you are constantly rebooting and need a code to stop the constant reconfiguring.

Our updates come in the form of a morning mindset victory call …

They come from what we read to continue to learn more about the Law of Attraction and Quantum Physics and manifesting our desired outcomes.

In hearing and reading, in our study of personal development, we are updating our “system”  – our beliefs.

When the java script update was completed this morning, I got another message.

You’ve got old versions of Java Script installed that will cause serious security problems if not uninstalled.

Isn’t that what we’re doing day by day, hour by hour … or what we should be doing?

As we change our beliefs about abundance and prosperity, the old self-limiting beliefs must be uninstalled, or else.  Or else, we run the risk of security problems, of allowing fear and doubt to sabotage our new system of belief.

It’s the same with the backup program I uninstalled this morning. I stopped using it months ago, but it was still running.  Popping up reminders every day – relentlessly.

When I accessed the list of programs and features to find that backup program to uninstall it, the list of everything installed on my laptop was huge.  There are programs in there that no longer are useful to me, taking up valuable space on my hard drive.

What  “programs” are still in your belief system?

Programs that no longer serve you, that are taking up space in your life, that are preventing you from running smoothly and efficiently and … abundantly?

The Microsoft Word program was a newly developed issue after I did uninstall the other versions of Word previously used on this laptop. Lately, whenever I opened Word, it took several minutes while it had to configure the program.

The solution was found this morning  (thank you Google!)  I simply had to add a code to stop the configuring process.

I had uninstalled versions of Word I was no longer using, but the system got confused. It needed direction.

Whenever we replace self-limiting beliefs with new empowering ones, our system (our subconscious) gets confused.  We set our intentions, repeat affirmations, visualize our better and our subconscious says, “hey wait a minute…this is new territory… I’ve got to reconfigure everything now.”

The code is needed to redirect those neural pathways that have been running on autopilot for years.

The code?  Your I AM statements.  Your major definite purpose. Your prayer of prosperity.

Now, our brains are more intricate than our computers.  There are billions of bits of information that are connecting along the neural pathways.  The laptop needed the code only once to fix the configuration. We need the code entered constantly.

All of the fixes I addressed this morning on my laptop took less than an hour.  There were several reboots with each step.  Now, everything is the way I want it to be … no pop up reminders.

The uninstalling of old beliefs … the rebooting … the configuring of our belief system takes time.

This is why we surround ourselves with others who are on the same journey to greatness.  We provide support and insight and wisdom to help each other keep rebooting, keep configuring, keep speaking the code.

This is why it is so crucial to continue to study and learn all that we can about the amazing power we have to create whatever we desire.

What needs to be updated in your belief system, what limiting beliefs need to be uninstalled, and most importantly, what is YOUR code?

Surviving the blizzards of life Naked Hippies Roadtrip

Surviving Blizzard Juno and Blizzard LIFE

Those in the Northeast are battling and surviving blizzard Juno while those all around the world are surviving the blizzard called life.

Blizzard_Juno_

We survived a blizzard when we lived in our camper on the banks of the Missouri River.  It was exciting to me … I had never experienced
a blizzard in all my years.  I was too excited to be worried.

The forecast warned of the approaching blizzard.  We prepared for
it – stocking up on food and movies – ready to be “snowed-in” for a
few days.

And right on schedule, as forecasted, the snow began to fall.  I kept
watch throughout the day, mesmerized by the blowing snow that
kept falling and falling.

Several times, I bundled up in boots and coat and mittens to measure its depth.  It was still coming down as we fell asleep
that night.

At daylight the next morning, I opened the door to the camper and
marveled at the sight … massive snow, huge drifts and a silent
serenity greeted me.

It wasn’t long before I was bundled up again to go play in this
winter wonderland.  It was like being a little kid again, the snow
reached up to my thighs!

Here’s the video I made of the blizzard of 2011:

That was truly one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever
had.

It got me to thinking about how we experience many”blizzards” in life.  Sometimes they are forecasted, most often they are not.

I call them life interruptions. You know, those storms that roll in without warning. If you are unprepared, you are in for a rough go of it.

We knew that blizzard in 2011  was coming. We stocked up on supplies because we knew we would be stuck in the camper for several days.

In life, we don’t always know what’s coming, and when stuff happens, we don’t always feel like we’ll survive THIS thing that happened.  But we can …

Here is how to prepare for life’s blizzards:

1. STOCK UP

Just as we stocked up on food before the storm hit, you must stock up on the tools and resources that will help you survive anything  life throws at you.

The only way to be prepared to deal with anything that comes up in life is to be grounded in personal development.

Personal development will help you deepen your faith and your beliefs.  It will help you develop an attitude of joy and happiness and gratitude for each moment of your life.

Without this in your life, you will suffer with anger, fear, worry, doubt, jealousy, bitterness and blame.

Without this you will be thrashed about in the storms of life rather than maintaining a sense of peace and well-being in spite of what is happening.

With this you will handle everything that comes storming in with
peace and assurance and hope … and even gratitude.  You WILL!

2. GO WITHIN

Well, of course you do not want to be out in the elements when a blizzard hits.  It’s the same in life. When the shit hits the fan, you go within.

For some, this is spending time in meditation or prayer.
(I like this comparison of the two:  prayer is you talking to God; meditation is God talking to you.)

While all around you there is chaos, go within to remember He who made you is with you … is in you.  Let go of all the stress, the worry, the fear.  Let the peace and serenity flow in and through your whole being.

3.  REMEMBER TO PLAY

When that blizzard hit, I couldn’t wait to get outside and play in the deep snow – like I used to when I was a kid.  When life interrupts, find time to play.  When you were a child, you loved playing.  Your world existed of playing and eating and sleeping,  playing being the #1 favorite activity.

Be a kid again when the blizzard hits … find a way to play, to laugh, to pretend, to imagine.  When you were a child and were afraid, who assured you everything was alright?  Your parents – right?  (Go back and read “Stock Up.”

We grow up and forget the wonder of imagination.  We get too busy and focused on surviving life that we don’t take time to just be like a kid and believe in magic, believe in happy endings.

Whatever you can do to re-member the child in you with your current state of being … DO IT.

4. ENJOY THE BEAUTY

During that blizzard of 2011, I kept opening the door to watch the snow falling, blowing, whirling around. It was magical in spite of being freakin’ cold and windy.  The world transformed into beauty hour by hour.

You can find beauty in everything, if you look for it.  When life interrupts, look for beauty and goodness.  You’ll see it in the smile of a stranger, you’ll feel it in the hug from a friend, you’ll hear it in the words spoken through a phone call.  Watch the sunrise, take a walk, even just going outside for a while will open your eyes to the beauty and goodness that is always there.

5. CELEBRATE YOUR VICTORY

You are a survivor, you weathered the life storm. Realize that because of this, you are stronger, more courageous, able to conquer.

When you come out of the storm,
you won’t be the same person
who walked in.
That’s what this storm’s all about.
– Haruki Murakami

Others watched you struggle and survive. They saw your victory, they felt your power. Share your story … give hope to someone else.

The life blizzards are inevitable. They hit hard, they blow fiercely.
Preparing for these storms will make all the difference in the story that you tell.

If this helped you today, leave a comment below.

Here’s to YOU!

Dance to the Music of Your Dream

Those who dance are considered insane
by those who cannot hear the music.
― George Carlin

Dreamers have a song within them that most cannot hear.

That’s why people  try to dissuade you, try to burst your bubble, try to pull you back into their reality …

you drive them crazy by dancing to something they can’t hear.

You’ve got the song within, the song of freedom, of success of
joyful living, but most people are deaf to that melody.

You’ve got to dance to the music of your dream.

You are the song writer… you are the dreamer … you create
beautiful music because you see with your heart and hear
with the voice within that says, “YES, I can do this.”

You choose the notes, you place them on the staff, you play
them every moment in your life.

But, here’s the question:

IS YOUR SONG HARMONIOUS?

Your song is the melody played when your conscious mind
and subconscious mind are in agreement.

When there is agreement, the sound is lovely.

But when there is inconguency… it is not pleasant to listen to … there is discord, conflict, friction.

As you are writing your song, the key to finding the right key is to create  harmony between your conscious mind and your subconscious mind.
write your song

Think of the musical staff as your beliefs.

music notes

The notes you place on this
staff are your thoughts.

The melody that plays is your song, your results,
your reality.

Your thoughts are placed as notes on the stanza …
and if the thoughts are congruent (your subconscious
and conscious mind agree), the melody is sweet.

But if those thoughts are negative based such as
fear, anger, doubt, worry, bitterness, jealousy …

Well, there is discord.  The sound is harsh,
unpleasant, not harmonious.

noise

Thus, the “fix” to create a delightful melody of your song is
to retrain your subconscious mind, to remove the negative
thinking and replace it with thoughts of abundance, love,
joy, happiness, peace, well-being and gratitude.

Now, this may or may not make any sense to you as you
read my analogy of how your thoughts create your reality.

If it helps you see and understand that you can change the
melody, then that is one of the greatest rewards I receive…
helping one someone to come to a new realization about
the power they have to create a different outcome in life.

This is the process, the journey of personal development.
It’s the path of going within to uncover and discover the
limiting beliefs you have in order to replace them with new
empowering beliefs.

You are a symphony waiting to be played.

You have a song waiting to be sung.

You are the song-writer, the singer, the dancer of your
own dream.

As you continue to learn and grow yourself into an even
more magnificent person than you already are, others will
come to play your melody with you – to join your symphony.

symphony

You are connected to everyone. Those who hear your
melody will come to harmonize with you – to add their
chords, their instruments, their love and help and support.

The rhythm of the body,
the melody of the mind,
and the harmony of the soul
create the symphony of life.
B.K.S. Iyengar

You’ve got the music in you.  It’s YOUR song, it’s YOUR dream.

Play on.

Stuck at a crossroad…

Oh, the adventures we have traveling the highways and backroads in
our Big Foot pickup camper.  Some days, it’s easy-breezy … some days shit happens and we find ourselves at a crossroad.

Yesterday we left LA after a glorious weekend event with over 400
fellow travelers seeking more in life – more clarity, purpose, focus and
direction.  We were physically exhausted but revved up on the energy
from the event … feeling exactly what the event theme had been
created to do — REIGNITE!

Getting out of LA was the easy-breezy part and that was a delightful
surprise. Afterall, it is LA and if you’ve driven on the 405 or the 105 or the 605 … you know what it’s like – most of the time. But not yesterday.  We sailed out of LA, headed back to Arizona.

And then, two hours from Yuma we were stalled at a crossroads.
Bruce turned off the highway to drive to the Salton Sea beach … he
knew I was longing to stick my toes in the salty waters there.

The truck died as he made the turn and there we sat between the
east and west lanes, stuck at a crossroads.  And all of a sudden, the easy-breezy day turned into one of those “grrrrrrrr” kind of days where frustration and worry start to replace the calm.

We’ve been in this place before … it happens, it’s part of the adventure of driving mile after mile on our roadtrip.  We know there is a “fix” for this and the appointment is scheduled with the mechanic in Yuma in two days – but we’ve got to get there.

And so, we did what we always do … we focused on diminishing the frustration and worry with belief and gratitude.  Belief that the truck would start again and gratitude for being stalled in a safe place, for the inner workings under the hood that we don’t understand but know this truck is reliable and powerful.

And we waited.  And waited.  Turning the key every so often to check. Waiting more. Focusing our thoughts more. Turning the key again.
Letting go of the frustration again and again.

Traffic was whizzing by on both sides of us … everyone else was moving along easy-breezy.

Ever been at a crossroads in your life?  Maybe even right now?

When something has come up to stop you in your tracks?

Could be physical, or financial, or spiritual, or in relationships.  It happens and it happens over and over.

Are you stuck, stalled and don’t know how you’re going to get moving towards what you desire?

Are you watching everyone around you whiz by easy-breezy?

Are you frustrated, worried, stressed and afraid?

As we sat there at the crossroads, we saw a pickup camper turn down the side road headed to the Salton Sea and as always we gave a “YES!” to them – the fellow travelers who travel as we do – in a pickup camper!!  YES YES YES!

That camper soon returned, parked across the road and a couple walked towards us.  “You need help?” they asked.  We met and instantly fell in love with Iris and Dan Valgarðsdóttir from Sweden, who came to the states, bought the pickup camper and started their roadtrip across the country.  You can keep up with their adventures on their blog here:  http://www.travelingthecrossroads.com/blog/2015/1/13/day-28-monday-leaving-arizona

fellow travelers Naked Hippies Roadtrip
Iris and Dan Valgarðsdóttir

Coincidence is only God being anonymous.

We talked, we shared our stories of roadtripping and we stood around looking under the hood of the truck.  Picture med school students looking at a cadaver for the first time … not knowing how it all works, but being mesmerized by intricacies!  “Ooh, a new radiator.”
“Battery looks great!”  “There’s where the problem is?”

Now, what we didn’t realize as we stood there was Dan and Iris also were thinking as we were … seeing the truck start up, believing it would.  Lovingly touching the solenoid thingy as I call it – the problem that is soon to be repaired.

Bruce gave it one more try … the familiar sound of the starter trying to turn over the engine was ringing in our ears as he turned the key.  And then – it happened!  The truck started, the engine roared to life and we all were dancing around whooping and hollering like we had just kicked the winning field goal.

My first words to Dan were, “thank you for laying your hands on our truck – thank you for your healing energy.”  He just smiled.

In our excitement, we forgot to grab our cameras and capture the moment.  You know we had to be completely lost in the celebration to forget to snap some pics!

We said our goodbyes reluctantly for we knew that we could spend hours sharing stories of all the adventures we’ve had on the road.
They headed north towards LA, we headed south to Yuma as the sunset painted the sky with a masterpiece finale to this day.

We’re always safe. Angels are all around us.

That’s our mantra, our belief, our experience over the last 14 months and 21,000 miles we have traveled.

We came to a crossroads again that day.  A place where we were stuck and frustrated and could have easily allowed the worry and stress to percolate and erupt into a mess of despair.

It happens as we travel. It happens in life. It happens to everyone.
It happens to you.

When it happens, know this: You are safe. There are angels all around.

Instead of focusing on being stuck, instead of worrying and giving your energy to fear … see yourself as all that you desire to be, do and have.

See it happening, feel it, believe it.

Your thoughts have the power to create exactly what you desire and the only way it works is to focus on the outcome, not on the present obstacle, the current circumstance or situation.
This is the Law of Attraction.  This is how it works.  This is how it worked for us yesterday and will work today and tomorrow and all the rest of the days of our life.

Here’s to conquering the crossroads!

WHO are you? Speak “I AM” into the Universe

One of the most powerful ways to speak YOU into the Universe is by creating a list of I AM statements.

I AM Naked Hippies Roadtrip

Ok, I know that you might be scratching your head at this one …
thinking Trisha has really gone off the deep end now.

Hardly!  Listen closely.

What you speak about, comes about.

It’s the Law of Attraction.  What you think about and speak about becomes your reality.

Now, before you get all excited about just thinking about a pile of money at your feet, or a brand new sports car in your driveway … let me explain this a little further – so you fully understand the Law of Attraction and how it works.

Your thoughts absolutely DO create your reality.

But, you’ve got some inner wiring that is cross-wired or short-circuited.  You know what happens then don’t you – the flow is stopped.  The power doesn’t get through.

Same thing happens inside of you – in your beliefs that have been programmed into you since you were born.

Self-limiting beliefs that stop the flow of power.

So, in your inner wiring, there are some repairs to be made – to get the flow going towards abundant results in your life.

That’s where the I AM statements work so beautifully and powerfully.

When you say I AM _______________, you are speaking in present tense.
You are not saying I WILL BE one day, when everything lines up perfectly, when I have money, when I get a better job or a wife, or a retirement pension.

No, you are speaking it into existence now.  Those two words “I AM” have the ability to anchor new beliefs and replace the old self-sabotaging ones.

Try it for the next 90 days.

Create a list of I AM statements … all the things you are, all the things you desire to be.

Create the list, then read it aloud every day.  Stand up and read it aloud as if you were standing on a mountain top with your hand in the hand of HE who created you.

Add this … record yourself saying your I AM statements. And then play that recording several times a day, as you drive in your car, as you wait in line … as you fall asleep at night.

You are anchoring new beliefs in your subconscious now.  You are changing who you are becoming.

Now, whenever one of those old self-doubts pops up to remind you of all the times you failed in the past, to remind you of when your 8th grade teacher told you that you would never amount to anything …
just repeat an I AM statement to kick that old belief out the door.

This is a poweful exercise to do.  Will you do it?

Our Naked Hippies team did a video assignment recently … we created videos about being network marketing professionals, using the I AM to tell who we are.

Grab your pen and paper, make your I AM list, record you speaking it to the Universe and see what happens for you over the next 90 days as you repeat the statements, listen to them and knock the self-limiting beliefs on their ass.

Let me know if this nudged you to do something different today – like make a video as the one above.

Leave a comment below and share your I AM video link!
