Do you remember the movie “Runaway Bride?”
Julie Roberts played the role of Maggie … a young woman who
kept running away from the groom standing at the alter. She
would fall in love, accept the proposal, but could never go through
with the actual marriage … until Richard Gere shows up and she
finally wakes up (sigh – who wouldn’t fall head over heels for him?) …
oh, excuse me, I got carried away imagining …
Richard Gere pointed out to her that she didn’t know who or
what she liked … she didn’t even know how she liked her eggs
cooked – she would just order whatever her current fiance liked.
So, in the midst of her heartbreaks and soul searching, she took
it upon herself to cook and taste every kind of egg … hardboiled,
soft boiled, scrambled, poached, etc.
Me? I like eggs fried over hard … in lots of butter. No runny yolk
for me.
It’s the runny yolk that gets to me, you know. It’s messy.
Same kind of mess when you put all your eggs in one basket
just one stumble, and they all start breaking … then you have a
basket of slimy, gooey eggs and shells that no one can use.
It gets messy when you do that in the internet marketing
industry too … put all your eggs in one basket.
Because, in this industry, stuff happens- systems break,
comp plans change, leadership is replaced, your downline
jumps to another shiny ball, merchant accounts get shut down,
your upline or sideline disappears, the company is restructuring,
rebuilding …
and when that starts happening,
it gets quite messy at times.
When these “issues” start happening in your basket full of eggs:
in the I’m-focused-on-one-company-and-
nothing-else-basket-of- eggs …
if you haven’t started putting some of your eggs in other places,
you’re going to be SOL.
You’re going to left waiting for the mess to be cleaned up,
the broken egg shells and sticky yolks cleared away…
and waiting and waiting and waiting.
What do you do in the meantime?
Where is your income now?
How are you paying for your auto-ship, how are you paying bills?
This is the mess a lot of marketers find themselves in when they
put all their eggs in one basket.

out and everything will be running smoothly again.
But, while you are waiting … fill your shelves with
products, tools, services so that you aren’t stressed
out and considering throwing the towel in on the whole
thing.
