My NDE (Near Death Experience) with MLM

Nearly threw in the towel until I realized I had a NDE with MLM.My NDE experience is of a different nature, and I don’t write this as a humorous twist on NDEs which would diminish the pure experiences of those who have shared their stories of near death experiences.

My NDE was with MLM and it has given me a new lease on life, regenerated my vitality and vision to help others. Let me explain how I came to this realization.

Most all who experience a NDE are transformed, renewed and filled with a new understanding of who they are and how life really works … and it pretty much comes down to loving, serving, being happy, and being grateful.

It’s a beautiful experience for sure; the stories are powerful and inspiring. I’ve secretly thought how I’d love to experience a NDE (IF it could be without lying on a hospital bed) because of the way it causes such a spiritual awakening and renewal of a person’s life.

And isn’t that what we’re all seeking … really?  An awakening … a new zest for life … assurance about why we are here? We want to break through whatever is holding us back to find the “secret” – the “knowing” – the clarity of what really matters in life.

I’ve had the honor and pleasure of meeting with Robert Trembly, author of “Twenty Seconds: A True Account of Survival and Hope” who assured me that I don’t have to die to experience the renewal and regeneration of a NDE.

I realized I HAVE had a NDE … of a different kind. I didn’t experience a physical death, but an emotional and financial death with network marketing, i.e., MLM (multi level marketing.)

After we rode the roller coaster of building our mobile business so that we could live the Naked Hippies Roadtrip dream; after navigating through the ups and downs and twists and turns that comes with any business; after years of never quitting, always believing, pushing on and keeping on … we were finally living our dream of living on the never-ending roadtrip and we were enjoying success like never before.

The Naked Hippies Roadtrip was rollin’ on down the highways and everything was just as we had dreamed it would be …

UNTIL … as I’ve shared before, the business went into bankruptcy owing us thousands of dollars.

That was at the end of 2014.

And during the past 17 months, I’ve felt like I’ve been in limbo, so to speak. Actually, “dead” would be a better description. I’ve been skittish about new opportunities, wary of promises of the next big thing, and mostly just barely holding on to that last knot in the rope of my belief in the industry.

We had been close to the mountain top, so close … and then there was a landslide … and we tumbled back down to the bottom, back to start all over again.

It hurt.

It hurt to see wrong doings by those who were supposed to be leaders.

It hurt deeply to see our team, our friends, even our family caught in the landslide.

It hurt to look at our bank account.

It hurt to see the dream of two men die … or so I thought.

So, while most NDEs are brief (as far as I know) … mine has lasted 17 months as I searched and struggled to find answers and solutions to “is this really worth all the time and money and effort?”

My NDE is over. I’m back!

I’m back and the spark of belief in the industry that was flickering and fading and almost extinguished has grown to a bonfire!

I was brought back to life when I heard the familiar voice of a friend, one whom had been in the landslide with me. I was jolted back to life when he shared what I’m about to share with you.

You see, when we joined that company which ended up nose-diving into bankruptcy, we had the honor and privilege to be flown to the corporate headquarters in Utah to meet the founders, and I’ll always remember how we resonated with the vision they had, the way we felt the heartbeat of freedom as we talked with them.

They had hearts as big as Texas to help people break free. They designed a company that would help anyone save money, get out of debt and make money doing it…something that resonated with what we desired to do.

Within a short time, we were quickly building a team who were experiencing success for the first time ever, including the Naked Hippies.

And then, the ax fell. The founders were far removed from the decisions of the CEO who utlimately caused the death of the company, the death of their dream.

Now, while I was “dead”, while I was experiencing my NDE, these two men were very much alive and excitedly working to find a way to take what they had learned and begin to create something new, something even bigger and better than what they first had done. Their dream didn’t die because of the shenanigans of a CEO. They held fast to their vision to help people … determined to start again, instead of throwing in the towel.

That phone call brought me back to life, back to believing again, back to the feeling that yes! yes! YES! this industry is worth every twist and turn, every landslide, flood or hurricane because there ARE good, honest people in the world who desire to serve and uplift others.

I received numerous phone calls during those 17 months of my NDE … tons of people reaching out to bring me back, but it took hearing from someone I know personally, someone who is honest, someone I trust completely, someone who has proven over and over again that their number one passion is helping as many people as possible become financially independent so they can live life as they desire…

That’s what brought me back to life!

So, here I am, alive and energized and excited to be building a new team with the founders of Divvee, the new ecommerce shopping experience that is future driven and right in line with what’s working now.

I believe that the Universe always puts people on our path at the right time. Here I was, dead to MLM … no umph or desire to consider starting again … and also working at a part time job to pay the bills … and then the phone dinged. Right time, with the right people.

How did Divvee bring me back from my NDE with MLM?

First, obviously because I know the founders personally and have developed a close friendship with them.

Second, I immediately saw that we can get back to the fun, high energy, the love and support of a team – something that had fizzled while everyone went their separate ways after that company went bankrupt (and while I was “dead.”) It’s been greatly missed.

And third, there’s the in-your-face realization that in this world of fast-paced, ever changing technology, Richard Smith and Troy Muhlestein have created something that the facts and figures are backing up:

Ecommerce and mobile is the future.

This trend cannot be ignored and those who recognize it and seize the opportunity to participate will reap the rewards.

You can’t ignore the statistics:

Seeing where we are headed helped me come back from my NDE with MLM
Adding to this phenomenal trend is the number of smart phone users that has grown since Apple introduced the Smart Phone in 2007.

Today, there are over 200 million smart phone users in the U.S. and over 2 billion worldwide.

The DivveeFree app will provide customers the ease and fun of shopping from their phone to save money on products they already use, or to grab some amazing special deals on products they have been wanting to purchase.

What Amazon has done for retail,

and what Uber has done for the taxi and limousine service,

Divvee is about to do to direct sales network marketing. -Ed Terranova

Customers who get the app will get push notifications of weekly special deals.  Remember the Kmart blue light specials? Back in the day, shoppers in the Kmart store heard a loud voice announcing a blue light special and everyone would race to that section of the store to grab the bargain. Now, with Divvee, it all happens on their phone!

I hope you can grasp the magnitude of the innovative design of Divvee. It’s not a regurgitation of what has always worked in the past …it’s a step into what is trending right now and will continue to explode with advancing technology:

  • Ecommerce
  • Mobile
  • Social Media Marketing

I’m grateful to be back among the living.

Grateful for the unwavering determination of Richard and Troy to not give up on their dream. Grateful for technology that allows us to work from wherever our camper is parked. And grateful for you to still be reading this.

My question to you is this:  Do you know me – the Naked Hippie Trisha? Have you followed me, read my emails, my Facebook posts, my blog, my book?  Have you listened in to the daily mindset call that I host?

Have you traveled with us vicariously, met us in person, or connected with me on Facebook? If you have, then you know my heart and trust me. Just as I didn’t have to think twice when I heard from Richard and Troy because of the trust I have in them … if you have that same kind of trust in me, then let’s start building together.

My NDE with MLM is over! The Naked Hippies Divvee Team is growing and I’m thrilled to be alive again. I love reconnecting with those who have been feeling “dead” like me and who have missed the incredible love and support and energy of a team working together.

Most of all, I believe this was an answered prayer whispered when I was about to let it all go.

It’s easy to become part of the Naked Hippies team (and you can keep your clothes on – or not!) Divvee is affordable: $9.95 a month, $25 a year for affiliate status. Click here to get started NOW because … trust me … the sooner you start growing with the Naked Hippies, well, you’ll thank me for the nudge to get going NOW.

As always, if you have questions, text me at 573-881-6715 or message me on Facebook. I don’t have all the answers, but I do have a direct line to Richard and Troy.

Here’s to your freedom …

Here’s to a comeback …

Here’s to YOU!

I'm alive! I'm back! Let's GO!

How to stand out so others will find you on the internet ... you're competing with millions!

How to Stand Out Among Billions on the Internet

Stand out among billions on the internet or you’ll stand in the shadows of those who do …

If you don’t stand out, you’ll wring your hands, beat your head against the wall, cry out to the gods of cyberspace and probably start to think of throwing in the towel.

via GIPHY

HOLD ON!  Before you scream “It’s no use,” read on for some tips on standing out on the internet.

Just so you know, as of just a few minutes ago, there were nearly 3 million blog posts written today, over 154 billion emails sent, and over 648 million tweets.  And the day ain’t over yet!
[source: http://www.internetlivestats.com/]

As the number of internet users it is more evident than ever that you stand out as a blogger, as a marketer among the billions on the internet – but how?

HOW TO STAND OUT ON THE INTERNET LIKE THE NAKED HIPPIES’ PICKUP CAMPER PARKED IN THE MIDST OF CLASS A RVS

1.  BE YOU – the #1 thing you can do

You're among MILLIONS of bloggers, Facebook users, Tweeters on the internet ... how do you stand out?
It’s really, really, really okay to be YOU!

There is no one else like you. No one else has your style, your voice, your personality and yes, even your quirks.

But, that’s exactly what attracts followers.  You just have to be as real as it gets. Be the good, the bad and the ugly. It’s all allowed and adored because everyone is sick and tired of the hype and false pretensions on the internet (and everywhere else in life, too.)

People have a keen sense of smell … they can smell the stink of fake or the fragrance of genuineness.

Nobody can DO YOU like you do you!  There’s a ton of people copying other styles, trying to “fit in,” attempting to be something they truly aren’t.  You just do you and leave the mask off.

2. BE CONSISTENT

It doesn’t matter whether you blog every day, three times a week or even once a week. What matters is that you are CONSISTENT.

Consistently showing up is one key to standing out on the internet among the billions.
Every day matters. Be there!

On social media platforms, it’s a daily requirement – at least once a day, but even better to have a presence several times a day for this reason … your social media posts have a short shelf life:

TWITTER: The median lifespan of a tweet is 18 minutes.

FACEBOOK: 75% of the engagement you get on your posts happens within the first 5 hours. After that, engagement pretty much dies off. [more statistics here]

INSTAGRAM: Your photo on Instagram may only get seen once, so make it a good one. [source]

PINTEREST:  Your Pinterest pins are on Pinterest forever.  However they are only going to show up in your followers’ streams when you initially pin them. [source]

3. USE IMAGES

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and it’s been proven to be the most engaging, the most valuable element of your social media marketing and on your blog.

Using great images increases your chance of standing out on the internet.
Find some fun pics like this on Pixabay!

Research from Skyword found that if your content includes compelling images, you can average 94 percent more views than your boring counterparts. [source]

Word of warning though:  use only your own personal pictures or images that you have permission to use without worry of copyright infringement.  The last thing you need is a lawsuit for grabbing an image from Google or Pinterest or someone’s blog, thinking because it’s on the web, it’s okay to use it.  WRONG.

A great source for copyright-free images is Pixabay.  The search function gives you tons of images to choose from, and they are available in different sizes to suit your needs.

4. TITLES  AND FIRST LINES

A great title and the first few words of your social media post have to GRAB the attention of the reader. If it doesn’t, they will click off or scroll away from what you are sharing.

On the average, five times as many people read the headline as read the body copy. When you have written your headline, you have spent eighty cents out of your dollar.  -David Ogilvy

Too often, more attention is given to the content created than the title or headline.

Jeff Goins writes, “You should begin and end every article with the question: ‘Would this make me want to read on?'”

In this article, he offers a simple formula for your titles:

Number or Trigger word + Adjective + Keyword + Promise

You’ve got about 3 seconds to get someone’s attention with your title or your social media post.  Pay attention to the subject lines of the emails you receive from other marketers … notice how some have a title that you can’t ignore … you just have to read more. That’s exactly what you want your titles to do.

5.  BE A RESOURCE

Be a resource for what people need.

Most people are always looking to increase pleasure or decrease pain in their lives.  You can be the “go-to” person that they will learn to rely on for either (as you incorporate all of these tips.)

Being a resource doesn’t mean you have to have a PhD in a subject.

You have skills and life experiences to share with the world.
Life has given you a boatload of skills and experiences to share.

You just have to share what you know … the knowledge you’ve gained and the experiences you have had in life.

Decrease the pain:   What are your skills?  There is someone who is searching how to do exactly what you already know.  You probably have more skills than you realize.  Make a list of everything you know how to do, no matter how insignificant it might seem, from your expertise as a realtor to your amazing skills as a mom. You’d be surprised at what people type in the search bars!

Increase the pleasure:  Are you a motivator?  Do you inspire and encourage people?  Are you funny and entertaining?  Do you write poetry, compose music, create beautiful works of art?  Share your strengths to be a source of light in other lives.

These five tips to help you stand out on the internet are intended to get your creative juices flowing and encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and show the world what you’ve got!

via GIPHY

It does take work, effort and commitment to implement these tips, but, remember, there are millions, sometimes billions of eyeballs.

What other tips have you found to help you stand out on the internet?  Share!  I’d love to hear!

The wrong way to build relationships on social media is running rampant and causing huge distrust in the internet marketing industry. Learn what NOT to do.

The WRONG way to build relationships on social media …

Ever been in one of those relationships that just moved too fast?

It doesn’t just happen in your personal life, it happens in business … most notably(and annoyingly) on social media.

Whether you’re on the receiving end, or the instigator of this rush to get to the “altar” or “get laid,”

what applies in dating, applies on social media:

S L O W Down!

I get tons of friend requests and once I verify this person is not fake … as in, they have a cover photo, they have valuable and inspiring posts on their page instead of endless profile pictures …

I’ll accept the request and it’s not too long before I get a message like this:

“Hey, I’m sure you are going to like what I’m doing to make money, here’s my link, join me!”

There is SO MUCH WRONG with this.

This is the exact reason people are turned off and skittish about EVERYTHING on the internet.

Think back to when you were in the midst of the dating scene – or maybe you still are!  (good for you!)

You make eye contact with someone at a party, in a bar, at an event ..

you smile, you walk towards them, greet them and

have a few moments of “hey, are you having fun, where are you from, you like the music here? – etc.”

The conversation was a simple ice breaker kind of chit chat to see what kind of response you’ll get … to see if there is maybe something here that could develop into something more.

And so, the small talk continues until you royally screw everything up …

by blurting out,  “Let’s get married!”  or “Let’s go to bed!”

What are the odds that ever works?

I’m thinking you’d get a slap across the cheek or a drink thrown in your face.

via GIPHY

Yet, that’s exactly what uninformed, untrained and desperate marketers are doing on social media platforms every single day.

Someone, somewhere told them to hustle … and they interpreted that to mean hurry up and get them to join their business.

(by  the way, hustle has two meanings:
to work hard and fast or
to pull one over on someone.)

You just don’t/shouldn’t ever hustle people.  NEVER!

When you hustle people, it’s like vomiting all over them with your amazing and wonderful chance of a lifetime opportunity. YUCK!

DON’T DO IT!  STOP IT IF YOU’RE DOING IT NOW!

Why?  Because it’s the decent thing to do.  It’s the right way to network and build relationships.  It’s taking the higher road and bringing professionalism to the internet marketing industry.

S L O W down and think about it …

First of all, did you really get to know the person at all?

Did you check their profile or fan page to see what they are promoting?

Did you enter into conversations with them to get to know them better … and actually find out if they had a problem or need that your opportunity or product would help solve?

Did you take time to build a real relationship rather
than the wham-bam-thank-you-maam?

No, you just assumed that your vomit would be
received like a sweet smelling bouquet of roses and
that you would be getting “married” or “laid” immediately.

via GIPHY

Ready to learn some “smooth moves” for building lasting and trustworthy relationships that could turn into customers?

I suggest two books that will help you immensely:

Go_ProFirst, “Go Pro” by Eric Worre, the master teacher of network marketing.

Worre covers all the steps you need to take from the first contact to the follow up.

This book will become you “bible” to guide you in building your business.

Get on Worre’s email list here to receive daily training videos.

win_friends_dale_carnegieThe next book is Dale Carnegie’s “How to Win Friends and Influence People.”

This book is just as useful today as it was when it was first published in 1937.

You will learn how to make people like you, win people over to your way of thinking, and change people without causing offense or arousing resentment.

In addition, make sure that the people who are leading you, training you and telling you how to prospect are not taking you down this road of destruction.

Find mentors who have integrity, who exemplify seeing people instead of dollar signs.

Building lasting, sustaining relationships in business takes time. It takes patience and practice to develop a “knowing” of the person who could be the perfect fit for your team.

But, rushing it, being desperate to the point of vomiting on them and hoping they will join you despite the mess you just made will never work.

Do it right, in dating and in business, and you’ll enjoy years of happy results!

Here’s to lasting, fun and rewarding relationships!

The 2015 Boom Social event, held in Chicago, was one of the most informative, helpful and inspiring events I have ever attended.

It would be an arduous task to elaborate on ALL the training and knowledge shared at the event in one blog post, so I’m sharing these top takeaways from the Boom Social 2015 event.

My First Experience with Periscope

My first experience with Periscope …

was NOT perfect!

Periscope is the new social media platform from Twitter that streams your live videos for a 24 hour time period.

It’s brand new, it just launched and today I did my first Periscope video WITHOUT

without waiting to go through training to learn how to do everything perfectly …

without waiting to understand it completely …

without waiting to let others forge ahead and then watch how they are doing it.

my-first-experience-with-periscope-video
My first Periscope video was terribly pixalated

And it WASN’T perfect!

Am I embarrassed?   Am I fretting about the poor video quality?

NOPE!

Because, here’s the thing.

There is always going to be another new social media platform introduced as technology and creative minds develop new ideas.

There is always going to be that learning curve that will keep you feeling like you will never “get it.”

Most of the time, that’s what keeps people stuck … thinking they have to have everything lined up perfectly and know it all BEFORE they start DOING.

Jumping in today on Periscope and shooting my first video did not turn out perfect.  In fact, the video was so pixalated that you couldn’t see the beautiful Ozark woods I was walking through.

Did I fret? Did I worry about what people thought?

NOPE!   I just chalked it up to a learning experience.  (and what I learned is that a slow internet connection will cause this kind of visual issue)

Am I embarrassed?  Not even!

Here’s my first Periscope video – but it’s only available to view for 24 hours.

Periscope is such a fantastic new social media platform that is growing like wildfire.

I’m feeling pretty awesome for daring to boldly go into this new venture today.

I hesitated on Instagram when it first was introduced (thinking I needed some “training” before I messed up.)

I hesitated to learn how to market on Pinterest when I watched other marketers using it to build their businesses. (WATCHED is the key word here.)

My actions today have erased the memories of all those times I hesitated and wished I had been in at the beginning of something.

What’s holding you back right now from jumping on Periscope?

It’s easy to get started as I did:
